As featured in Domino Magazine

We had the opportunity to offer some interior design services to the very sweet and hilarious Kristen Bell. Originally Kristen asked us to udpate her bedroom entrance and then it rippled into much more from furniture pieces, ehem our KABOT Storage Trunk in front of her guest bed, to some custom built-ins.. we had fun. Keep reading to see where we ended up.
All of the beautiful images are by the very talented Monica Wang.
EARL Interiors for Kristen Bell
In an interview with Mrs. Bell herself, she told Domino Magazine:
"We didn’t know what to do with the entry to our bedroom. It had awkward angles and the lay out caused it to become a dump zone for all kinds of stuff. To start, Amber recommended removing the drapes around the window since they took up so much space on the wall and suggested turning them into a Roman shade. Then, they created more closet space by designing and making two built-in wardrobes that span the entry and are covered with mirrored doors. The best part is, in between the wardrobes Chris designed a custom desk that fits perfectly, along with a comfy Earl Moresby chair."

EARL LAPILO Desk and MORESBY Chair
We had the pleasure of designing a custom desk for Kristen and Dax to fit in the space between the two built-in wardrobes. We were so happy when they also requested our MORESBY Chair to fit in with the desk.

The wardrobes had a walnut interior that fit like a glove into the space with mirrored doors so they could utilize them while getting ready.

Last, we through in a  LAPILO Ottoman/Stool in front of the closet door for when you need sit and throw your shoes on.

The GIRLS ROOM

The girls room also got an upgrade. Kristen removed the coved built-in beds so that the girls could have more space around their beds.

Love these custom built-in headboards we designed to match the existing walls. Chris had the clever idea to have a hidden top cubby for the girls to stow their special things.
EARL Bedside Table in White Oak
Love the way our bedside tables fit so perfectly next to the beds.

One of her girls didn't have a desk on her side so naturally, we made an L Shaped version of the LAPILO desk for her in white oak to match the aesthetic of the room.
Here is a before shot of the corner...

Loved the girls type writer, and adorable art above the desk.
Also, they got a hidden compartment on the side of the desk with a key ;)

KRISTEN's OFFICE

Lastly, Kristen commissioned us to design her office cabinets and bookshelves.

BEFORE Shot of the office

We designed some custom built-in cabinetry with hidden wood drawers behind the doors, topped with a beveled edge rainbow limestone. We also installed floating white oak shelves and helped her to style them with collected art and memorabilia.

Aimee Byrne is one of my favorite ceramists, she is responsible for that ceramic banana peel and the ceramic cigs!
