The rolled slab collection is a play between raw simplicity, intuitive form, and controlled imperfection. The sculptural inspiration is drawn from forming around blocks of wood, cylinders, and other objects found around the wood shop.
"I love how floral arranging is inherently tactile – similar to ceramics. You take a raw material and compose it in a way that adds even more beauty and life to a space.” - Cat
These vessels were designed and made within a collection of hand sculpted pieces that our designer and maker Chris Earl created in our ceramic studio in North Hollywood, California.
Beginning the study of [the Japanese art of] ikebana has been a fun challenge because it’s a restrained style where less is more, so each individual ingredient has to be placed mindfully. Our sensei is quick to remind us “unbalance creates balance."
It’s a meditative practice that encourages savoring both the beauty and transience of nature. -CAT
