Tracy Gilmore's design ethos is classic, clean, and comfortable. She studied design at ucsb, ucla, ica and pdc. Tracy was born and raised in Southern California and currently resides in Santa Monica, California.

How long have you been an interior designer and tell us how you got into it?
I’ve been in the interior design world for 24 years now! After 3 years of teaching 3rd grade in South Central, I decided to make a career change for something more creative. I went to UCLA extension to study for 2.5 years, and I worked for some amazing designers (Kathryn Ireland, Joe Nye, and architect Tim Barber) before hanging up my own shingle 14 years ago.

Classic. Clean. Comfortable.

What is your favorite interior paint color?
Oh please don’t make me pick just one! Benjamin Moore Night Train.
Walnut or Oak?
Again, can’t I have both??? Ok, walnut.
We customized our Bedside Table and added a maple splice like our Dansk Bed frame for Tracy and we love how it turned out.
Where do you source your wallpaper, and do you have a favorite specific wallpaper right now?
Hollywood at Home carries my favorite lines right now like Lake August and Penny Morrison.
Name a few of your favorite designers you’re pulling inspiration from.
Heidi Callier, Brian Paquette, Amy Meier
Where is your favorite place to source new furniture and, what about vintage?
New furniture I do a lot of custom with local workrooms like Earl Home!!!
Vintage, probably Hollywood at Home.
What was your process like when working with EARL Home to create custom furniture?
Working with Chris and Amber was so collaborative and rewarding! They both worked with us the entire way through from initial design through specifics of finishes, colors, and dimensions – all the way through to install.
Our KABOT Sideboard was a custom commissioned piece for this client and has now become one of our most customizable versatile pieces. From size, to half drawers half doors, to all drawers, to all doors... sky is the limit in customizing this piece to fit your needs perfectly.
What is your favorite piece from EARL’s furniture collection?

100% recommend EARL for their craftsmanship and attention to detail, plus they are just super cool.
Do you have any advice for those of us out there that would love to get into interior design?
Take some classes / work for other designers to learn!
